HIP HOP/RAP: Southern Style, HIP HOP/RAP: Rap

Details:
Sporty-O Some kids grow up with aspirations of becoming a businessman, others want to be on TV and some want to be rappers. Southern MC, Sporty-O is living all his dreams. Neither too crunk nor too country, he represents the most well-rounded Atlanta image in rap. Taking his stage name from a highly-respected uncle, Sporty-O started off life in College Park (a suburb south of Atlanta), where he juggled writing rhymes and being a high school baseball star. Influenced by a wide range of musical genres and artists from soulful R&B crooners Marvin Gaye and Al Green, to the artistic Pop styling of Prince and Michael Jackson to the inventive sounds of lyrical prowess of TuPac, Sporty-O music is a lethal combination of skill, wit and verve. An established businessman and avid investor, Sporty-O opened a successful record store in Atlanta when he was just 22, which afforded him the opportunity to record and press up his own CDs. "Owning a record store was a great move for me. I was able to surround myself around something that I loved and it also gave me a chance to develop relationships with different DJ's." Racking up frequent flyer miles traveling from Atlanta to Los Angeles, the current bi-coastal rapper scored a TV gig on MTV as a character on the Jamie Kennedy show, 'Blowin Up'. "I didn't have to do anything weird to be a part of the show. I got to be me, which is the only way I want to present and promote myself to the world." "I've got several songs that are also featured on the show, so it's an excellent source for marketing my music!" Known for his introspective and inventive rhymes, Sporty-O's ambitious debut disc SuperSport: The Mixtape Vol. II, shines mainly due to its varied musical production and content. Effortlessly moving from frenzied beats to more laid-back 808 bass-lines and from high-energy, hard-knock flows to deep, thought-provoking messages, SuperSport: The Mixtape Vol. II, is a standout classic for every hip-hop head. The lead single, 'Poole Palace'/'Let It Roll', supports the current southern movement of snap and pop without being overly commercial, while the b-side single, New Hat is a fun summer song that talks about getting fly and fresh. Sporty-O capitalizes from his creative and likeable persona, which can be found on clever tracks such as the infectious hit, 'U Not Beyonce'. "The song is basically telling women that if you don't look good, stop with all the attitude." It's a real song with a comedic twist. He understands the importance of targeting the streets, especially since he has witnessed and experienced his fair share of rough and grimy situations. Choosing to focus on the positive rather than get caught in the trappings of a gangster lifestyle, Sporty-O maintained a deft balance of business and education. With guest appearances by Sean Paul from the 'Youngbloodz' and underground sensation Big Floaty ('Don't Get Dripped'), and Bonecrusher ('Shoot It Out'), in addition to solid production from Kaeswole (8 Ball & MJG, Youngbloodz), Justin Trugman (Eminem, Nelly) and DJ Lethal (House of Pain, Limpbizkit) SuperSport: The Mixtape Vol. II, delivers a sizzling round of feel-good music. "I'm an interesting guy and that's why I keep doing what I do." "I like my life and I wouldn't trade it for the world!"
