The impossible to find debut album.
12 MP3 Songs
ROCK: 90's Rock, POP: Power Pop
Details:
The long out-of-print debut album! Splitsville USA is a fun frolic through pop culture, with some often-silly lyrics backed up by great music.
A COUPLE OF COPIES WERE AVAILABLE, BUT THEY WENT VERY QUICKLY. SPLITSVILLE IS CURRENTLY OUT OF COPIES OF 'USA'.
Unfortunately, the few copies that survive are going for as much as $55 on eBay!
SO...WHILE THE CD IS CURRENTLY "OUT OF PRINT," THE ALBUM OR INDIVIDUAL SONG SELECTIONS MAY BE DIGITALLY DOWNLOADED FROM iTUNES. 'SPLITSVILLE USA' WILL BE COMING TO OTHER SITES SUCH AS NAPSTER, SONY CONNECT, MUSICMATCH, MUSICNET, EMUSIC, ETC VERY SOON (if it hasn't arrived already).
Stewart Mason of The All Music Guide states, "In many ways, from the crunchy glam rock blare of the guitars to the goofy lyrics of songs like the punk-snotty "Sit & Spin" and the self-explanatory "Come Back to the 5 and Dime, Larry Storch, Larry Storch," Splitsville USA is like Redd Kross' early records with the cultural references updated to the early '80s (songs called "Atari 2600" and "Shrinky Dink" will raise a nostalgic smile for anyone who remembers the days of The Facts of Life and The A-Team) and a slightly less sarcastic worldview."
And according to John M. Borack of Trouser Press, Splitsville "...goes for pop-punk laughs on its maiden voyage. With song titles like "Come Back to the 5 and Dime, Larry Storch, Larry Storch," "I Was a Teenage Frankenstein" and "Gremlin With Mags," it's pretty evident how seriously this is all meant. Still, Splitsville U.S.A. is often hooky enough â in a Buzzcocks/Redd Kross fashion âto hang in there."
