Details:
S.P. - The world of music is not new to singer, songwriter, arranger, and producer Steven âS.P.â Wayne. S.P. was born in Los Angeles, California, and his gift of music was recognized in pre-school during a solo performance of âIt Only Takes a Spark,â a beautiful hymn that he performed with confidence and brilliance. The beauty of his voice was recognized at an early age, however, his passion for music would come later. While listening to the radio with his grandmother, Tramaine Hawkins began to sing her popular song, âGoing Up Yonder.â âMy grandmother said to me, âsee how she is singing that song? You have to sing with passion and the spirit.â I was 6 years old when she said that to me, and it is the statement that fuels my music even todayâ, states S.P. It took some time for that message to sink in, but it did.
S.P. has performed all across the country, as a background singer and as a solo artist, and he has written and arranged more than 100 songs. He wrote and produced his debut album âGetting Clearerâ and the majority of his sophomore album âJust Worship.â His smooth melodious voice reminds one of Donny Hathaway and Fred Hammond, yet S.P. is uniquely different. He has a sound that will be embraced by a variety of listeners.
S.P. has shared the stage with several major players on the gospel and jazz scene. Opening for and receiving rave reviews from the likes of gospel artists: Brent Jones and the T.P. Mob, Original Gospel Gangstaâs, Daryl Coley, smooth jazz artists: Gerald Albright, Doc Powell, Ricky Lawson, Barbara Morrison, Ricky Minor, Paul Jackson, Jr. Mark Cargill, Jennifer York, and R&B artist: Faith Evans, Wayne Vaughn, the Emotions, Phil Perry and Howard Hewitt. While his urban sound has already gotten the attention of some of todayâs hottest artists and producers, S.P. is looking for his unique sound to make an impact in both Urban/R&B and Gospel arenas.
