The Shorebirds play utterly charming/ neo-pop with a dark lyrical underbelly, familiar yet new. Combining the melodic rhythm of Roxy Music melded with the happy sing-along sound of Echo and the Bunnymen run over by the Cars, The Shorebirds are not a band that you can walk away from, at least not quietly. Mark Ephraim, the Detroit-bred singerâs deep, velvety voice draws comparisons to Lou Reed and David Bowie yet still has the sense of humor to include lyrical give props from Bill Callahan of Smog to dancehall popstar M.I.A. Ephraim has opened for Cheap Trick, Lemonheads, Dandy Warhols, and Queens of the Stone Age. The band consists of Sara Press on bass, David Moltz on lead guitar, Greg Acampora on drums. The Shorebirds offer a breath of fresh air, with a little exhaust on the side, to restore the lost faith in well crafted, timeless songs.
