GOSPEL: Contemporary Gospel, URBAN/R&B: Contemporary urban
Details:
Picture a church service that is reminiscent of an old tent revival. People have been bombarding the altar for the last two hours. The musicians are exhausted and the choir is pressing to sing each note. Suddenly the preacher stops the music says, "We need some fire. Sharon, give us some fire!" She sings, "F-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-R-R-R-R-R-R-R-E!" The congregation roars in praise to God, the musicians become exhilarated, the choir explodes in song, and the service ends victoriously. Sharon is just doing what she was born to do.
Sharon Roshell, born and raised in Fayetteville, North Carolina, conceived a love and a talent for music at an early age. Traveling with her mother and brother as a child, and the experiences of singing in churches of all sizes, instilled a unique passion for song in Sharon. Though she tried initially to go a different route in college, she found that she wasn't able to escape her destiny to sing.
In 2001, the end of her third successful year at North Carolina A&T State University, Sharon Roshell made the difficult decision to leave her nursing education and attend World Harvest Bible College in Columbus, OH, where she majored in Praise and Worship Leadership Studies. Her family thought she was crazy at first, but it was there that she began to get extensive experience in musical performance on crusades with Pastor Rod Parsley, TBN appearances, and Breakthrough television broadcasts.
Currently, Sharon Roshell is the Music Minister at Kingdom Life Church in Baltimore, MD under the leadership of Pastor Michael and Minister Anita Phillips. She has recently made guest appearances on TBN's Praise the Lord broadcast, and recorded with National Gospel Recording Artist Maurette Brown Clark and Songwriter/Producer Eric Scott. She continues to travel and minister in churches and other music venues, as God continues to direct her path.
Sharon Roshell, 26, enjoys writing songs and playing the piano, while her vocals are a mixture of power and sweetness to the ear. Her songs demonstrate a variety of influences, including some of her childhood favorites, like the Clark Sisters and Pastor Shirley Caesar; contemporary musical influences are singers such as Maurette Brown Clark, Darlene Zchech, Nicole C Mullen, Kim Burrell, and Pastor Donnie McClurkin. The combination of strong vocals and a compassionate spirit enables Sharon Roshell to minister to the most hardened of hearts, and bring peace to the most fragile of souls.
Her voice, her performances, her life, is like...like fire.
