SHAIMUS is a Los Angeles-based alternative rock band with a sound that is both fresh and familiar, with moments reminiscent of Rooney, Guster, Coldplay, and The Beatles. Bolstered by the inclusion of their first single, âAll Of This,â in the hit Playstation 2 game, Guitar Hero, Shaimusâs ever-increasing buzz has lead to nearly 1,000 sales of their debut album, Paper Sun, in the first 6 months of its release. A successful West Coast tour has only helped the band gain more momentum, building an email list of 900 subscribers and garnering success on the iTunes Music Store (2000 downloads in the first 2 months). Their memorable hooks and fiery guitar work has recently graced the airwaves of XM and college radio stations.
The five members of Shaimus met at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, where they recorded Paper Sun, a 10-song album that showcased their tight songwriting and tasteful musicianship. They soon after relocated to Los Angeles where the CD was mastered by 2-time Grammy winner Gavin Lurssen, who has worked on numerous Grammy winning and nominated billboard-charting albums. Shaimus gained instant national exposure through Guitar Hero, which became a surprise phenomenon and earned a Spike TV 2005 Video Game Award for Best Soundtrack in addition to other honors.
The band is very active with their fans in the online community as well, and their official website (www.shaimus.com) has amassed almost one million hits, with an average of 4,000 visitors per month, and increasing MySpace plays that are quickly reaching 100,000.
In May 2005, Shaimus was invited to play at the E3 video game convention representing Guitar Hero, and shortly after embarked on a successful tour that expanded their fanbase throughout the Western USA. With their convincing album and electrifying live performances, Shaimus is proving to more and more people why fans respond to their introspective lyrics, soulful vocals, and unique musicality.
