Details:
Like many fine singers Lucy's musical roots were nurtured in church singing gospel and playing piano and organ for church choirs. After studying voice at UNC-CH, Lucy sang along the east coast with various jazz bands and performers. Soon she moved west performing in many major performance venues in Reno, San Francisco, Las Vegas and the surounding areas. During her career Lucy has sung with and for some very well known artists of our time, including jazz greats Dizzy Gillespie, Big Al McKibbon, and the Duke Ellington Orchestra as featured in the touring Broadway Musical "Sophisticated Ladies starring Mary Wilson". She sang alongside such gospel greats as John P. Kee, Vanessa bell Armstrong, Darryl Coley, and Andre' Crouche. More recently Lucy sang with Clint Holmes, David Cassidy and recorded with Clint Holmes and Gladys Knight.

Over the years Lucy Shropshire has been acknowledged as one of the most formidable artist of our time. She has her own unique style and presence. She has been labelled the "Songbird of Jazz" and will quickly win you over while you enjoy the classic song stylings of JAZZY ME!

Although I've enjoyed singing all different styles of music, jazz and jazz standards have been the form of music that has stayed with me and has allowed me to speak my heart. Jazz is heart. Jazz is motion and emotion. Jazz is summer, winter, fall and spring......Jazz IS Me.

I always believed I would record a jazz project, but the opportunity didn't fully present itself until I met a couple named Carol and Tom. They heard in my voice what many had heard--a fondness to Ella, Sarah and even Rachel Farrell. It is only because of their huge spirits and kind hearts that Jazzy Me! was born. The project I'd dreamed of would finally come to life.â¨â¨Who knew that tucked away in a small city like Fort Wayne, Indiana stood one of the finest recording facilities in the US. The Brian Derek Trio rehearsed right around the corner from Melina's house, where I sacked out every night after the recording sessions. What a co-incidence!! The entire project was recorded nearly all live and in a very short span of time. Finally, Jazzy Me! breathes. . . and the rest, as they say, is history. â¨â¨This project has afforded me the chance to do what I love most....sing, indelibly!!! Jazzy Me! is a gift of love, an expression of support and now it will live on to light the lives and moments of others for eternity.......Thank you, Mr. and Mrs B.â¨â¨Jazzy Me! is dedicated to my three best friends who have gone much too soon, my sisters Betty and Celesta and my Aunt Lucy. Also to my mother and father, Annie and Horace for loving me so, and encouraging me to follow my dreams.
