Potty-mouthed "fiesty electrobitches" Shira, Shadows and their all-girl crew rap, scream, sing, scratch, and rock their way thru these fun, feminist and raw electro-punk anthems with pop catchiness (and some spoken word).
10 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Punk, POP: with Electronic Production
Details:
SHIRAGIRL doesn't play by the rules- we make our own. In fact, "make your own" pretty much sums up our whole philosophy- make your own sound, make your own stage, make your own tourbus, make your own statement.
SHIRAGIRL is fronted by SHIRA, on the mic, and backed by SHADOWS, aka DJ LAVA, on the turntables. We roll with our ALL-GIRL CREW, which includes kickass guitarists, DJs, skaters, artists, videographers, and musicians.
Our signature brand of electro-punk is fierce, rowdy, feminist and fun- with every track retaining its own unique style. We love to break down the walls that exist between music genres by dabbling in everything from hip-hop to metal. Never one to write a boring love song, Shira's lyrics satirize pop culture and rail against life's injustices.
We don't like to brag. But we've done a lot in our short 3 years. We've crashed- and conquered- the Warped Tour. We've recorded a track with Tim Armstrong of Rancid/The Transplants. We've danced onstage with Peaches and climbed Le Tigre's stage at Coachella. We bought our own tourbus, painted it hot pink, and traveled the country rocking out. We recorded over 200 hours of video footage throughout our exploits. We even invaded Europe.
The typical SHIRAGIRL does not like to put her music in a box. Because it's not even about the music- it's so much more. It's a spectacle. It's an adventure. It's a movement. It's way of life.

Don't just take our word for it. Here's what some "critics" have to say:
"Feisty electro bitches!"
- The Village Voice
"Head banging, punk rocking"
- The Daily Pennsylvanian
"Over-the-top performances... heavy distorted guitar, hip-hop beats, props, ballerina meets-metalhead costumes"
- The Record
"The highlight of my afternoon. Quirky hip-hop inspired punk tunes calling for action against just about everything... Shira dominated the crowd with her gyrating moves and venomous vocals"
- Life in a Bungalo
