For some time now, I have wanted to tell my story about "the music". I was compelled to take pen in hand and start recording some of the events that have touched me musically and spiritually. I'd like to say "Let's start at the beginning." yet, I am not quite sure where the beginning starts.
Was it last May when my music teacher Becky suggested I write a song? Was it last year when I went on a mission trip to Ukraine asd listened to two speakers, Smitty and Tom, speak of "core values"? Was it perhaps at the reunion with my 20 year old Panama Bible study group-Mary Jo, Yvonne, Robyn, Bev and Lynn-the healing, the sharing and the memories?
Maybe celebrating my 60th birthday last year and knowing the love my husband, daughters and families, and especially Mom have for me. Maybe it started further back than that? As a little girl, being at the piano was my refuge, a safe place; where my grandmother Zell would listen, encourage and set an example fo musicianship; where my Mom would sit patiently by my side as my 6-year-old fingers stretched for an octave. Unable to read words, the notes seemed so much easier for me.
My, how much further back can I go? Generations, I am sure. Did God place a dream in my heart so long ago? Is there a created purpose for "the music"? I hope so.
