Details:
Pianist Sue Palmer has done it again!! Her newest album"Sue Palmer: In The Green Room," is dedicated to the music she heard as a child, played by her aunts and uncles in the family living room. From stride piano to fiddle tunes, from Pearl Harbor to Tiki boogies, this album explores the roots of 20th century Americana and Sue herself. Composers like Duke Ellington, Joe Liggins, and WC Handy, are represented, as well as "Just Plain Folks" award winning songwriter Janell Rock, and Sue herself. Blues Diva Candye Kane makes several appearances, singing the standard "I'm Confessin'," as well as the out and proud "Gertrude and Steins." Sue's crack band, her Motel Swing Orchestra, featuring Deejha Marie on vocals, rocks through "Your Mother's Son-in-Law," "Pink Champagne," "Mood Indigo," and the beautiful "Tenderly," among others. Sue and guitarist Nathan James' duet on "The Old Piano Roll Blues," show off both of their barrelhouse and fingerpicking talents. The album is something to listen to, from beginning to end, starting with Sue's composition "Jakob's Boogie Woogie Lullaby," and ending with her "Killer Tiki Boogie," replete with the rarely heard thermin. An enhanced CD video on "Cottonwood," puts the visual to the family living room, as Sue relives her roots.
