The band's sound is completely current, and totally unique, blending soulful vocals, driving guitars, hip-hop turntables, and funky beats.
13 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Funk Rock, ROCK: Hard Rock
Details:
Supaphat is:
Eric Schley â Vocals
Vince Mellone â Guitar
Jeff Dyer â Bass
Slade Anderson â Drums
What started out as Nothing became Supaphat. Literally.
This Sacramento-based band got its start when Singer Eric Schley, formerly of Nothing, got together with drummer Slade Anderson in 1999. In 2001, the duo added former Mamaâs Gravy guitarist Jeff Dyer, and in 2004, another Gravy alumni, Vince Mellone, assumed lead guitar, with Dyer moving to bass.
Combining rock, funk, and hip-hop to create its unique sound, the bandâs music evokes the riffs of Rage Against the Machine, the rhythm section of Led Zeppelin, and draws comparisons to the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Schelyâs strong rock voice channels the white-boy soul of Chris Robinson (The Black Crowes) and Bradley Nowell (Sublime). Supaphatâs live shows are characterized by great grooves, raucous energy, and Schleyâs comedic antics between songs.
Supaphat has played all over the Sacramento area, at venues including The Blue Lamp, The Owl Club, and the G Street Pub in Davis. Recently, the band has ventured further afield, playing the Club Underground in Reno, both the Cherry Bar and Grant and Green in San Francisco.
In August 2005, Supaphat released its first full-length album, âRide With Me,â featuring 13 of the bandâs best tracks. Soon after, Burnside began distributing the CD, which can now be found at Tower Records, Rasputin's Records, Amoeba Music, Dimple Records, The Beat, and Amazon.com.
