Details:
Paul Johnson dreamed of creating music even as a small child in the not so âmetroâ town of Ovett, Mississippi. His childhood was less than perfect, way less, and playing music became his escape. A reclusive teenager, Johnson spent his time writing lyrics, playing guitar, and crooning songs ranging from punk to metal. Johnsonâs friends say they were always intrigued by his talent. Paul founded Sundayveil in 2001 after hooking up with some local musicians at a club in Hattiesburg, MS. After more than two hundred shows together, the band parted ways. Mike Cook, bassist for Sundayveil, and Johnson searched for other musicians to share in the vision they had for the band. Many unsuccessful auditions later, these two decided it was time to get back in the studio. Johnson chose five of his songs to record for a new EP. He recorded all of the guitars and vocals. Cook laid down the bass, and Chad Kent from Atomship played drums. The new EP, Burning Satellites, is an emotional rollacoster with fervor highs and soulful melancholy lows. It is arguably of the most honest rock records in recent years. Sundayveil has already established an incredible fan base and received offers from many well knowns in the bizz including, some real heavy hitters responsible for the careers of several top artist. Currently the band has landed a shopping deal with major label intrest already swarming the band.
Sundayveil has received airplay on stations ranging from 99 Rock in Destin, FL where the band was given 100 caller feedback for their track Meek, a first in the stations history. Rock 93.9 of Jackson, MS, 103.7 the Foxx in Hattiesburg, MS, and rock 104.5 have also given Sundayveil airplay. The band recently caught attention from the syndicated radio show, Listen In...rock on purpose with Frank Jenks, who salutes artists for there lyrical talent, while giving bands a national platform of listeners.
Sundayveilâs musical core embodies the roots of rock, with catchy hooks and sing-along choruses, but still maintain a style all their own.
