12 MP3 Songs
FOLK: Folk Pop, COUNTRY: Country Pop
Details:
Susan Haight's âSTARS BY DAYâ is an exquisite collection of genre-spanning personal songs. The CD stands out for its clear, tender vocals, melodic lines and sensitive, sometimes haunting lyrics. Featured on âSTARS BY DAYâ is an impressive list of accomplished musicians; Charlie Harrison on keyboards, Doug Webb on Sax, Joe Cacavo and Larry Koonse on Guitar, and Gary Popenoe on harmonica.
Among this poetic blend of soft jazz, country and folk/pop songs is the single âWish You Were Here,â which garnered a lyric-writing award from the American Songwriter Magazine. Another song, âForever in Me,â was written by Haight when her grandmother was dying and is particularly intimate and moving. âSinging and writing songs is healing, but itâs also terrifying,â Haight admitted. âThereâs something very intimate and exposing about it.â The haunting and metaphoric song âLow Flying Birdâ was both romantically and spiritually inspired. âIt comes from that longing of knowing what could be yet recognizing what is⦠Thereâs a kind of beautiful sadness.â
The song âStay Close, Angelsâ was written after years of working in Los Angeles in television and film development and production. âIâd spent so much time and blood working on other peopleâs projects, seeing their creative visions come to life. I finally just felt Iâd earned the right to do something myself,â Haight commented. The result is âSTARS BY DAY,â an eclectic and elegant anthology which has been enthusiastically received by a diverse demographic. Haightâs vocals have been described as beautiful, clear, sensitive and haunting. âHaving these truly talented musicians play on this CD was amazing. Iâm so grateful.â When asked where the title originated, Haight replied, "I've always appreciated the beautiful and unseen. Like stars. They're always there, but we can't always see them."
Ms. Haight has performed at various venues throughout the Los Angeles area and continues to write thoughtful and unique songs.
