Survey Cez, based in Seattle WA, began with Aaron Taylor (Radio Nationals, The Squirrels, Mama's Iguana) who envisioned a new band that would be versatile, entertaining, and fun to experience. Aaron began playing guitar in high school and further developed his talent playing with bands around the Pacific Northwest and Alaska. Music became another outlet for Aaron to express his creativity through the art of songwriting. With a book of original songs, he invited Adrian to bring his bass and join in. Adrian Leuthold (Pit Orchestra-Village Theatre) played bass in the styles of rock, jazz, and show tunes. He has a fine background in music analysis and arranging which compliments each song adding depth. After several gigs, it was clear that Survey Cez had its own unique sound and style. Laura Grace (The Ribs) was Aaron's initial choice for support vocals but conflicting schedules delayed her full commitment to the group. As the second CD went into the recording studio, Laura came in and sang bringing new energy and more humor to the project. The results were obvious; it was time for Laura to join the band. Several drummers have gigged with Survey Cez and a few even recorded with them. Graham Black (Model Rockets, Doll Test) did both. His drumming has an emphasis on detail and a feeling of simple and laid back. A recent addition was made to the Survey Cez live line up, on drums, James Cookman (The Plaintiffs, The Squirrels). It might just be him behind the set the next time you come see Survey Cez play live!
