An eclectic album of Kiwi original music by Wellington musician Sue Dunlop. The album includes Celtic, jazz, comedy C&W, ballad & rock and is guaranteed to entertain, move, amuse, and rock you.
10 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Folk Rock, ROCK: Acoustic
Details:
Random Deviations, which will amuse, move, rock and provoke, includes the beautifully haunting "Old Lovers New Friends"; the Celtic rock number "Look Past The Fool"; the very silly Country & Western song "The Final Sequel"; the anthemic and uplifting song "Better Than Normal"; the angry loungy jazz song "Coping", and several shades of rock including cathedral rock ("So Clever"), haunting rock ("Your Future's in the Wings"), funky rock ("I'm Not Her") and rocky rock ("To Hell With Heaven").
Musical Producer Michael Nicholas Williams has written some stunning arrangements and assembled a talented group of musicians to perform on the album including Rowan Clark (bass guitar), Tim Solly (keyboards), Richie Wise (drums & percussion) and Lance Su'a (electric guitar) who all have extensive and award-winning professional music careers, plus guitarist/singer Caleb Ross (better known as an actor for his role as Lex in "The Tribe"), cellist Martin Rothbaum and uillean piper Kirby MacLeod. Michael also appears on the album playing keyboards and piano accordion, and singing some backing vocals. Other backing vocalists include future stars in the making Jason Chasland, Pearly McGrath and Laura White plus a number of other students from the Wellington Performing Arts Centre, Fran Hoover, Andy Duncan, and Barnaby and Claire Kinane Williams.
Random Deviations was recorded, mixed and mastered by Gil Eva Craig of Flying Saucer Audio, Wellington.
The album has been produced by DALLIN PRODUCTIONS.

Introducing Sue Dunlop
Sue Dunlop has been performing as a professional musician on and off since 1976, and makes the undisputed claim to being New Zealand's first female professional bass guitarist.
In the late 80s she launched her solo career, writing and performing a cabaret-style show (Better Than Normal) which introduced the much loved character "Lezzie Presley", and delighted audiences around the country and in Sydney where it was included in the 1991 Sydney Lesbian Festival. An album of the show was a sell-out.
Sue was a core member of the well loved (and well travelled) women's comedy company Hen's Teeth which won the 1996 Meryl Yvonne Award for Best Women's Comedy at the Chapman Tripp Theatre Awards.
Sue has also performed solo at various venues throughout the country, played bass for the 1994 national tour of Blood Brothers, and completed a year of acting training at the Wellington Performing Arts Centre.
Over the past 18 months Sue has appeared at Circa Theatre, Wellington and at a number of festivals throughout New Zealand in the sell-out comedy show The Truth About Love.
For the past year Sue has performed solo most Friday nights at the Welsh Dragon Bar in Courtenay Place introducing a new entertainment concept of "music, madness and mayhem" which combines strong performances of great songs (originals and popular covers) with good old Kiwi / Welsh sing-along plus classroom percussion and interesting squeaky toy solos. The result is a high energy fun night out - highly recommended by all who've been. ("Better than karaoke"!)
What the critics have said -
"She sings with power and clarity, and has the ability to switch from humour to pathos without pulling out all the sentimental stops." (Laurie Atkinson - Evening Post)
" ... I positively recommend going to see this. Check out some great music from a genuine individual with a great talent to entertain." (Jonathan Alley - Radio Active)
"Check her out and invest in a good time." (Jane Blaikie - Broadsheet)
"A wonderful and memorable performance." (Sylvia Baynes - Broadsheet)
"Sue was great! This woman has an amazing voice which she really knows how to use well." (J.M. - Craccum)
