Details:
SUTTLE, the Kingston, NY duo comprised of Tim Sutton and Mike Tuttle, is releasing their long-awaited EP, In a SlinkyStyle. SUTTLE combines electronic, hip-hop, rock and freestyle into a hybrid party mix that swings from abstract wittiness to political insight to introspective catharsis. The hi-fidelity production (Tuttle is a professional engineer and radio producer) synthesizes soundscapes with beats to create twangy hooks that stick in your head like licorice between your teeth. If you like Gorillaz, Beck, Ween or Massive Attack, you'll appreciate In a SlinkyStyle.

The band was born many years ago while Sutton and Tuttle were working at WDST in Woodstock NY. They teamed up to produce audio and video for many local area events, including A Day in the Garden and Woodstock '99, where they were especially inspired by The Roots and Rage Against the Machine. High above Hunter Mountain on a ski lift, they envisioned doing music that would inspire them like many of the bands they had been recording.

With no roadmap for the sound they were after, they let the recording process evolve organically, switching off on a variety of instruments--they both play bass, guitar and keys, as well as program. The album came together over years of late-night hangout sessions at Tuttle's SoundLabs studio in the Shirt Factory warehouse in midtown Kingston. Without the usual pressures of studio clocks ticking and hiring an engineer and producer, the pair were free to spend as much time as they wanted to on creating their vision, while having fun. That vibe comes through on the tunes. While finalizing songs for the EP, the duo collaborated on music for several independent films and a rock musical.

TIM SUTTON is a veteran of the Hudson Valley music scene and has toured across the country landing in the oddest places, from winning the talent contest at a Phish show to opening for The Ramones to singing back up vocals for pete Seeger. His past and current groups include Lost in the Sauce, Wooden Rope and RatBoy. He has also worked extenisively with kids in the community teaching video production.

MIKE TUTTLE has been a music producer and sound designer for radio and corporate clients since 1995. He is an award-winning remixer and producer of nationally-syndicated radio imaging heard nationwide. His studio, Tuttle SoundLabs, is a renovated loft space located in the T-Shirt Factory warehouse in Kingston.
