Details:
Susan Savell, singer/songwriter, has been writing music since she was a teenager, growing up in California country. She has performed throughout the United States in varied venues such as the Take A Stand For Kids rally in Washington DC, a statewide candlelight vigil after 911, the National Conference of the Search Institute in Minneapolis, and other national events focused on spiritual and social healing. She also performs at weddings, sings at funerals and other events where people want a universally spiritual touch.

Susan is an ordained minister in the UCC tradition and served on the National Staff of the UCC in New York City for 7 years, performing all over the country at local and regional events. After moving to Maine, she founded a nondenominational, interfaith, "new age" spiritual community, called The Peace Church, in Portland, and was instrumental in beginning the Feminist Spiritual Community in that same city 25 years ago-- a community which still actively gathers in a circle every week. Susan has performed and taught spiritual healing at theological seminaries and gatherings from coast to coast.

Currently Susan works for the State of Maine and directs a program called "Communities for Children and Youth," a positive youth development initiative of the Governor's Children's Cabinet.

It is from this role, and her affiliation with the work of the Search Institute, a research organization which promotes the "asset approach" to child and youth development, that Susan was inspired to write and record the songs on this album. She performs them for local communities throughout the state, raising money to support mentoring programs for children and youth.

This music is enjoyed by adults and children throughout the world and it's meaningful lyrics are catchy and inspirational! Children ages 4-14, and their parents, find the words especially healing and hopeful. One parent reported that "Lift Me Up" was played over and over in his house when his daughter lost her cat and needed music to help her grieve and heal. Another parent of a 6th grade boy who was being bullied has written a play entitled "Sticks and Stones," inspired by Susan's song and her teaching throughout Maine about the importance of cultivating human kindness.

This is Susan's 4th recording and the only one which is currently digitized.
