Details:
Sequel's "BACK" proclaims them just that - positioned squarely at the forefront of today's tuneful music revival. With "BACK", a heartfelt new release, one doesn't have to dig too deep to find the many undercurrents of early influences coursing through their musical veins. Stridently launched from the get-go with the whispered opening strains of "All Right All Right", Sequel pours up a hefty double shot of straight ahead rock 'n roll and keeps 'em coming with a shockingly early entry into another bombastic rocker, "Cherry Wine". Todd Jensen, who moonlights by playing bass for David Lee Roth (Van Halen), belts out these two openers with impassioned gusto. Greg Georgeson (Tommy Tutone's guitarist) delivers the gritty lead vocal on "The Good Stuff", which has a hook that'll pull your line down with a bite that won't let go. Take a breath and bask in the droning "Rock 'N Roll Girl" - a tasty little nugget with it's Leslie-infused solo; next is the album's sole ballad entitled "The Best I Can". "You Don't See Me" shouts out Sequel's British DNA by giving an "oh so" polite nod to the fab four; it's a perfect setup for the Stones'y "What's Wrong With You" featuring a super slinky slide solo oozing with taste and feel. "Lie To Me" will have your jingles jangling in the merest of moments and you'll start to see the light with the pleading "Heart On The Line". "Hard Love" brings up the rear and provides the perfect stepping off point for this super-sized musical sandwich. With "BACK", Sequel has served up their best shot, one for which they deserve an enormous pat.
