Alexander : Searching

How many musicians can play every instrument during a live show? How many musicians boast that they are the only one onstage and still sound like a four or five piece group? Not many.

What makes the music of Alexander (William Seeler) different, is the mastery in all areas of his art, and most notably his live performance, that make him an anomaly among countless other performers.

William Seeler is a multi-talented musician and professionally trained artist, playing over 10 different instruments and holding a music degree. His talents extend beyond musical creation to include the titles of artist, producer, and professional educator.

All works bearing William's name have been composed, recorded, and mastered in a private studio in Durham, North Carolina. All album artwork and photography was also created by William. Currently, two albums are available through the online distributor, www.cdbaby.com, and includes William's first work, "Ch'ien". Ch'ien has been purchased by listeners as far away as Belgium, Spain and Germany and is currently played on at least two overseas radio stations, including Radio Milo in Belgium.

"Searching"

William's most recent release, "Searching" is a wild departure from Ch'ien, and smears musical styles so effortlessly that Erasure, Devo, and David Byrne have suddenly become welded together. The album itself is an incredible creative endeavor, and yet, the formula is simple; one man playing all of the instruments and singing all of the parts. Amazingly enough, it's all done without prosthetics!

Multiple layers of percussion are melted atop guitar work, with a large slathering of harmonic vocals make the music both danceable and equally enjoyable while sitting down. An excellent combination of electronic know how with live instrumentation!

William's live show is one man in a frenzy of musical creation. Playing the drums for one song, the bass or guitar in the next, controlling the digital sampler while singing a complex harmony vocal or belting out a lead. From beginning to end each performance is a continual barrage of sound. Pre-recorded layers of sound overlap with live improvisations to create a unique experience for the onlooker.

A must have for those of you looking for something different than what is offered through mainstream radio rock and pop.
