Details:
SEER circa â98â - Intelligent Design and the genesis of a rock band. Music and the âevolutionâ of it is an ongoing process. Singer, songwriter Chris Baumgart knows this oh so well. Looking back to the beginnings of SEER and working on the bandâs third project in 2006, his reflections offer some personal gratitude with the opportunity to, literally, thank God weâre still rockinâ!!!
Surprisingly this album was recorded and produced in the early years before the big âchange overâ from analog to digital. It was recorded at Pearl Studios in Milwaukee, WI. At the engineering helm was local award winner Todd Scott. Scott was at the digital forefront recording with Protools on a Macintosh. This project had begun in 1996 but was delayed until later in 1997, having to redo several songs because of a frozen hard drive and a hard lesson in learning the term-âsaveâ to a back-up disc.
Even so the whole band at the time found this digital recording process quite fascinating. SEER was comprised of four band members Chris Baumgart -vocals/guitar, Rick Stolzenfeld-lead guitar, Mike Rome-bass and Mike Phetteplace on drums who had replaced Tom Hockel -both drummers contributed to the cd.
The desire to release this CD now was; 1) thereâs some great music here, 2) we wanted to share the bands musical beginnings with our growing fan base and 3) a little back story about SEERâs history really shines the light on how âsonicallyâ the band has matured.
Recording and producing, âSEER circa â98â laid the foundation for the bands newest music. Jimmy âBeatmakerâ Fonk arrived in the lineup soon after this disc was toured around the state doing live shows. With digital music and all its offerings of software samplings and the integration's of keyboards and other hardware a whole new world would later opened up.
Lyrically the band has always pressed into the spiritual side of life's journey. Writing about the experience of ârelationshipâ-between God and man, between a woman and a man, and between one another. What use would a seer be without sharing certain truths or bringing questions to bare in a day when so many struggle. And when people's spirits shrink we have a great source of strength to draw from. Music reaches deep into the soul...and often it is music that resurrects it. Now that's intelligent by His design.
