This double-CD set features the Fantasies in C minor andD minor, two late piano sonatas, three sets of Mozart's finest variation sets, the Andante for mechanical organ in my arrangement for pedal piano and the wonderful Adagio in B minor, Rondo in A minor and Allegro in Bb all played on a modern reproduction of an eighteenth century pedal piano. Mozart had his own pedal board made ca. 1784 by Anton Walter which has disappeared and the present instrument shows what the addition of a seperate pedal part sounds like when added to his solo piano music. Mozart often improvised on his pedal piano and also used it in playing his solo piano music and piano concertos. The addition of pedal parts enriches the music giving it sonic impact and color while often completing the harmonic structure.

This is John Khouri's third CD featuring his pedal piano and the superb piano and wonderful recording quality make this a CD set not to miss.
