Sarah Morr's passion lies in the music itself. It echos through her words, guitar chords, and powerful, sultry voice. It is, "a feeling so real that you cannot believe."
New York native Sarah Morr has been described as a young Patti Smith or Belinda Carlisle with a pinch of Juliana Hatfield and Stevie Nicks... but what matters is her own uniqueness. Her big voice and haunting chords best describe her performance. Though Sarah's music is a mixture of visions, emotions, and classic influences, its profound rock tales are melodic and brutally honest.
Sarah started performing out with her fathers band in bars and clubs when she was 12 years old. As a special guest, she used to sing classic rock covers (such as Fleetwood Mac/Stevie Nicks, The Animals and Lucinda Williams), along with some of her own earlier originals. She also sometimes played guitar with them. Sarah's performed in various bands and theatrical events over the years. When in High School, she was trained in opera and performed in NY State's, All-State Choir Festival her junior and senior years. When Sarah turned 18 she set out on her own musical journey (along with a five year college career), writing more mature pop songs and playing all over locally. In 2004, Sarah teamed up with drummer Chris Reddan and guitarist Peter Rockermann to start the "Sarah Morr Band." Zach Cooper joined later that year as bassist for the band. They recorded The Giving Tree EP, and its release was February 12, 2005. A lavish CD Party followed at the Sugar Loaf "Terapin" Station, celebrating with friends, family, and fans. She says, "I love all of the people who support me. I love playing for each individual person in the crowd, and seeing their reactions when I shock them. Making music has just always happened to me. It's funny, I know I was born with a song in my head. I can't escape it. I love everything about music and all of the people who make it. It's a serene place."
Sarah's new full-length record, Dragonfly, is in the works so please keep a lookout. It will be available on CD Baby later this year. Sarah is currently playing solo acoustic shows with some fellow musician friends. She also hosts an open Acoustic Jam @ The Corner Stage in Middletown, NY EVERY Sunday night 8-12 p.m. (www.cornerstage.com)***
