"Out of the Everywhere" Review
by John Noyd, Maximum Ink (1999)

Pickin' with little grinnin', singer-songwriter Brittany Shane (Safranek) brings an earthy blues to wrestle modern problems in her debut disc, Out of the Everywhere. A quietly lonely sound hides among the acoustic guitars and percussion. Simple arrangements and straightforward delivery bring Brittany's stories of unadorned honesty to life. When accompanied by herself on guitar, the tunes take on asingle minded rhythm, a cardio-vascular ballad, pumping as it climbs.

With a voice like the sound of an orphaned angel, her outlaw drawl mingles with the spirits of Patti Smith and Kristin Hersh, mixing rock, pop and folk into a single persona. Writing and producing her own songs, Out of the Everywhere shows the spunk of a determined troubadour, anxious for the words to escape their lips. Her solemn but restless tunes conjure thoughts of Joan Baez and Alanis Morrisette, yet she copies no one, playing only herself.
