My songs are folk songs first, but some rock, some have a jazz groove while others are bluegrass or country flavored. I call it music from the root cellar.
12 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Roots Rock, ROCK: Americana
Details:
Artist - Short Description I am a singer/songwriter who grew up in a small town in Arkansas delta country. It was there, nestled between the Little River and St. Francis River where my imagination began to take root.
Growing up in a family of storytellers, songwriting became a natural expression of that tradition. This love of story drew me to the songs of Neil Young and Bob Dylan. Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris kept me in my rural roots and ignited my love of harmony and great vocals.
Living in Tulsa, I perform, both as a solo artist and with a band and host a local NPR show called Folk Salad. In 2000 I released my first full length CD, Pennies On The Track. The songs deal with missed opportunities and lost souls finding redemption.
In 2006 I won 3rd place in the Billboard Songwriting Contest in rock, and in 2005, first place in the Ozark Mt. Folk Festival Songwriting Contest.
My songs lean towards rock, country, bluegrass, and gospel, but at their heart they are folk.
