"In these days of uncertainty, America needs the Pigeon Man."
--Stewart Copeland
The story of the Pigeon Man is everyone's. From wasteland world and inner confusion, to the balance between sincerity and sarcasm, to the blinding light of recognition that concludes the CD, the Pigeon Man watches the world and records his sensations, gradually growing more self-aware as he goes. His world is layered and intensely-etched, replete with subtle and sometimes twisted grooves, haunting motifs, high intensity beats. The album's production brings a whole rainforest of sound and rhythm into danceable sync, with each song creating a unique emotional and musical picture, and with each tune marking another turn in the Pigeon Man's odyssey toward home.
Composer/producer Ryan Beveridge was awarded a fellowship from the Sundance Institute's Composer's Lab to work with A-list film composers Chris Young (Runaway Jury), Carter Burwell (Fargo), George S. Clinton (Austin Powers), Graeme Revell (Blow), and Ed Schearmur (Charlie's Angels).
He has collaborated with Stewart Copeland to create the unique musical soundscapes for two television series (The WB's short-lived BRUTALLY NORMAL, Bravo's BREAKING NEWS) and Sony Playstation's SPYRO THE DRAGON.
For a recent film score, Beveridge was asked to create music featuring industrial drones and tools. Taking NIGHTSTALKER director Chris Fisher's advice literally, he assembled an array of car brake drums, oversized wrenches, sheets of metal, and other industrial refuse. Combining these with the only slightly more conventional distortion-tinged flute and modified violin, he created a distinct and haunting sound for the stylized thriller, which made its debut at the 2003 Sundance Film Festival.
I'M THE PIGEON MAN marks Beveridge's solo debut. It is beat- and concept-fueled, peopled with strange images and sounds designed to capture the heart and captivate the mind.
