Details:
25 year old Sam Saunders first picked up a guitar at the tender age of ten. He hasn't looked back since, releasing numerous demo tapes in his teens and an instrumental CD entitled My Pulse For Future in 2000. He has also worked as a session guitarist. His sweet, melodic guitar playing earning him frequent comparisons to George Harrison and Eric Clapton. His debut proper as a singer/songwriter features Saunders on lead and backing vocals, lead and rhythm guitars, bass, keyboards, theremin, ukulele, harmonica and percussion. The self titled CD was recorded in Saunders' modest home studio based around a digital eight track recorder. Saunders favors a live approach to his numerous overdubs, rarely "punching in" and using no digital editing whatsoever. A hallmark of Saunders' retro sound is his lush, multi-tracked backing vocals. His main influences include John Lennon, The Beatles, The Beach Boys, The Rolling Stones and Eric Clapton. He was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois.
Advance warning....
Sam will be fronting his new power trio, The Sam Saunders Machine, on Friday night December 15th at The Elbo Room. The Elbo Room is located at 2871 N. Lincoln Ave. Chicago, IL. Tickets are six dollars. Showtime's 8:30 pm.
