Details:
Steve Abercrombie is no stranger to talking about himself in the third person. Many years of writing bios have made him wonder if this Steve character and himself are even the same person. While the debate is inconclusive he does know that his musical roots are in his hometown of Dahlonega, Georgia a mixture of bluegrass, country americana traditionalism mixed with a dual personality of experimentality determined to destroy those traditions.
Steve spent almost 12 years living in Carrollton, Georgia where he met many of his greatest musical collaborators from Michael Butler's indie brit-pop group Magnolia which gave him the opportunity to break into Atlanta's club scene, playing venues like The Earl, the 10 High and The Star Bar to Dysfunktion Junktion a jamband featuring Matthew Williams from Captain Soularcat and Blueground Undergrass that played many extended sets at Jake's Roadhouse and the Brandyhouse
Steve spent the last year as the touring bassist for Jamgrass pioneers Blueground Undergrass. This gave him the chance to play the festival circuit and play many venues all over the southeast and midwest. Many a dream came true including sharing the stage with El Buho, Skerik and Vince Herman.
Currently he plays with a rock trio called Thunder Monkey who is mixing their debut CD. www.myspace.com/thundermonkeyband
In addition to Thunder Monkey Steve has returned to solo acoustic performances. He has recorded numerous solo discs in his home studio and will soon begin work on CD number 8. Expected to be relased by Spring 2007
