Michael Sasnow is a multi-instrumentalist, as well as a certified Music-Thanatologist, extensively trained to provide live prescriptive music on harp and voice at the bedside of those nearing end-of-life. This form of compassionate comfort care is often provided through either the spiritual care or palliative care departments of hospitals and hospices. Michael has been involved in this work since beginning his training at the Chalice of Repose Project-School of Music-Thanatology, Missoula, Montana, in 1998. Until that time, his 20-year day job had been that of chiropractor and acupuncturist in Boulder, Colorado. He now lives in Portland, Oregon, where he continues his work in music-thanatology, plays harp at a wide variety of occasions, locks himself away in the studio, and even sees occasional patients.
In "Shadow Play: Inspired melodies for harps, guitars, and bass," he brings his diverse background to an acoustic soundscape that is healing and relaxing, yet highly melodic and musically engaging for any listening environment.
