Eric Douglas Smith AKA Eric âSmidiâ Smith was born 27 January 1960 in Covington, Kentucky. Smidi is a self taught musician. His interest in music started in 1968. Smidi plays the Lead, Bass guitar, drums and keyboards. The name âSMIDIâ derives from MIDI (musical, instrument, digital, interface) Smidi joined the US Air Force 1981 and retired as an E6 2001. During his military career, 1983 Smidi auditioned and was selected to tour as the lead guitarist with the prestigious Air Force âTops-N-Blueâ showcase Entertainment Group. In 1990 Smidi arrived to his final duty assignment, Nellis AFB, Nevada. He was introduced to the working functions of MIDI equipment. He quickly learned how to sequence and arrange all of the musical parts of a song from a common computer source. Smidi has sequenced music tracks for well known artist i.e. Leon Haywood, Spice 1, New Birth, Clay Hammond, Charles âChazâ Spurling and the Mighty Python Band and âKeith Wilderâ from Heatwave. Smidi also produced the theme song music for the âThe Venetian Wheel Dealâ Game Show that is currently played daily at the Venetian Hotel Casino on the Las Vegas Strip. Smidi has approximately 2000 instrumental Hip Hop, R&B, Rap, Pop, Rock, Jazz and Gospel tracks in his music catalog. He currently has over 600 registered song titles with ASCAP. His goal is to produce music to achieve recognition as a âwell roundedâ successful musicianâ in multiple genres.
Currently Smidi is a âSenior Music Producerâ for Buffed Beats.Com. He has over 250 Hip Hop, R&B, Jazz, and Gospel instrumental tracks on sale at www.buffedbeats.com.
