Something More Than Nothing is a rock/punk group that blends hard, smooth rock distortion with the beats and bass of good ol' fashion punk music.
12 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Punk, ROCK: Hard Rock
Details:
At the back of the bar stand three young fellows setting up their gear. The air is smoky, you've got a cold one in hand, and then the song on the house PA stops. A high pitch ping catches your ear and an intense guitar pierces the air, the bass slams a note that hits your chest, your heart quickens to match the drums, you can't help but feel the intensity and power behind the music and lyrics... You've just experienced "Something More Than Nothing," a trio that brings a fast, heavy, intense sound and a passion for music that can only inspire.
In 2002 Marcus Comer, Curtis Murchison, and Scott Kincaid, came together to play music and rock out. Quickly realizing their shared commitment and love for music the trio began working without hesitation and upon the completion of 4 songs they cut a demo. Yet, unhappy with the outcome and with new understanding they pushed themselves, and each other, to grow together as musicians. With a few more songs under their belts they came across the opportunity to play a small show at a community center. Soon after Something More Than Nothing began work towards their first EP "...Because 8-songs Cost Too Much." After recording with Jason Shavey, at Synergy Productions in Redmond, SMTN held nothing back and, representing a unique blend of rock and punk, decided it was time to take on Seattle's music scene.
In August and September of 2004 'Something More Than Nothing' was the featured artist on CyberPunkRadio.com with an hour block that featured an interview and songs off their EP "...Because 8 Songs Cost Too Much." SMTN also has been winner of Sugarlight Productions' Battle of the Bands.
SMTN has played around with bands such Dyslexic 33, Sledgeback, Action Figure One, Fifty Fifty, Instant Winner, and Poor Sport. They have performed at venues such as The Central Saloon, The Fenix Underground, Studio Seven, El Corazon, Experience Music Project (EMP), and Hell's Kitchen in Tacoma, to name a few.
As music lovers SMTN works hard to support others out in Seattle's music scene from promotion, attending a variety of shows, and taking photos for other bands. SMTN makes every effort to encourage and assist the dreams of those around them, for them there is no in-between. It is Something More Than Nothing's goal to inspire through their passion of music, always striving to accomplish nothing less than something.
