A rockin', blues guitar driven experience from Knoxville's own Smoke 'n' Mirrors!
The trio is performing in the greater Knoxville area and can be seen at various venues including Big Daddy's, Waterfront Bar & Grill, Murphy's Wings & Ale, Par-T-Pub, Thunderworld USA and Green Meadow Country Club. A calendar of events is on Smoke 'n' Mirrors official website.
A little about the CD:
The first track, "Counting On You", is a new arrangement inspired by Stevie Winwood that features a chorus that can instantly be sung along with. "Different Breed" also went through a metamorphasis that found its hooks and rhythms writhing beneath the fluid guitar work of Jeff. It is a very funky groove, laden with clavinet, and contains a message that everyone can relate to; The good times make it (the hard times) worth it.
Inspired by the current trend of aging rock and rollers who are still going strong, "Fountain Of Youth" is a simple but passionate song about how music keeps us all young. "Are You Ready?" pays homage to weekend fun. Barry, along with Tom's brother David wrote the fifth song on this debut CD, "River Runs". It is a ballad with sweeping chord changes and beautiful harmonies thoughout.
"I'm All Right" delivers a fist pumping mantra reminiscent of ZZ Top. "Automobile (Ridin' Around)" is a classic shuffle that Tom has been performing for over 20 years.
"Another Second Chance" has a churning piano rhythm in the verses with organ and guitar answering in kind. "Green Lights" has a nice driving southern rock feel and finishing up the CD is a tune inspired by Bruce Conte, "Goin Around In Circles" featuring wah-pedal solo by Jeff.
