Details:
Sonen, born Keith Evans in 1977 hails from Long Island NY, and was raised in Atlanta, GA. "Coordinates", his sophomore independent album, pulls from a sphere of influences that meld into a single voice. From infancy, influences were eclectic. Early memories of David Bowie, Beethoven, The Beatles, James Brown, and Stevie Wonder carried Sonen through to his early teens when he purchased his first guitar and played along to the Smiths and the Pixies. At 15, Sonen's life changed completely when he was introduced to Orbital and The Future Sounds of London. From that point forward, electronic music played a large role in his musical progression.
A self-taught musician, Sonen experimented with musical expression through playing bass, guitar, drums, and singing in different bands. However, it all came together for him in the studio with electronic music production. He plays all of the instruments on his album, and feels that with "Coordinates" he accomplishes his goal of "finding my sound, a way of pulling together all of the elements I love in music and creating my individual voice."
âIt sounds liveâ¦thatâs the quality of the album that I really enjoy. It sounds like somebody playing it right thereâ¦instead of drum machines and samples, which is really refreshing. Itâs good to hear these days. â -Alex King Electronic Music Director 88.5 fm WRAS Atlanta
