Swirling in a maelstrom of pop rock derring-do, Solyoni present to you The Princess Market, released on the bandâs own Velvet Fallopian Tube record label. The follow-up to their 2004 release, Prairie Monsters, Solyoni return with a tighter, more focused approach this go around. This is the first Solyoni album in which songwriters Dan Lurie and Dominic Aulisio had a cohesive full band at their disposal to help craft the songs. The sound is more realized, the eyes wider open, and the octopi wield darker ink. The musicians were given a large amount of freedom in deciding how to fill up the tunes. That group of musicians includes lead guitarist Aaron Semer, drummer Jon Kilian, bassist Chris Pierson, and guitarists Jose Sandoval and Robert Lurie. Mark âMembyâ Bentz also blows brass on two songs. Loitering nearer the concession stand than the garage, The Princess Market is a full blown pop record true to the bandâs blistering artistic vision: even in a world scarred with apocalyptic portents, drifting in the rosy glow of Hellâs Gate, someone still needs to drive the ice cream truck. Solyoni is there to answer that call. While the more open-ended, experimental endeavors of the first full length have been left by the roadside, the usual Solyoni trademarks are here: narrative driven story songs and off-kilter lyrics wrapped around catchy melodies. Most importantly, the luminescent spirit of Solyoni remains in tact: the infectious mewings of a band having a lot of fun.

Recording Notes:
Produced by Aaron Semer and Solyoni, The Princess Market was recorded by Semer in various locations around Seattle, including Lilâ Mustard Studios, the Audleman Guest House on Bainbridge Island, the Cascadia Film Collective, and the bandâs practice space. The album was mixed and mastered by Adam Fox at Foxlab Studios in Athens, OH.

Solyoni Bio:
Seattle band Solyoni was originally formed in Athens, OH (spring, 1999). Since then, the band has undergone a variety of forms and line-up changes while relocating its headquarters to the Pacific Northwest. In their current incarnation, Solyoni is a five-piece ensemble. We pride ourselves on giving equal voice and creative latitude to each band member. Singer/Songwriters Dan Lurie and Dominic Aulisio pen the lyrics and share frontman duties on lead vocals and rhythm guitar. Lead guitar is handled by the nimble Aaron Semer (The Plains). Chris Pierson (Calmer Than You Are, Marmot v. Mammoth) thumps bass. Until recently, percussionist Jon Killian (The Plains, Calmer Than You Are, Marmot v. Mammoth) served as the bandâs drummer. He appears on this album, though recently replaced in the live line-up by the furious Christopher Croft (At the Spine). Mercenary musician/artisan Robert Lurie regularly contributes to the band under a shroud of secrecy. Jose Sandoval (Marmot v. Mammoth) also appears on this album. Former members include: Bethany Gordon of Shadyside, OH; Leslie Keffer of Athens, OH; and Brian Kokai of Elyria, OH.
