Melodic Rock
5 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Progressive Rock, POP: British Pop
Details:
The Ruling Party was formed in late 2004 by Jen Sencion from New York City and Steve Mostyn from Sydney, Australia. Since then The Ruling Party have been busy writing and recording and have now independently released a 5-song EP showcasing their unique sound. It contains honest simple songs reminiscent of The Beatles and U2 blended with overtones similar to those of Radiohead and The Cure. The reaction has been awesome through just a little online promotion.
One of the elements that make The Ruling Party stand out is their vocalist. Jen has an unmistakably unique tone. Just in the way one would recognize Kate Bush or The Pretendersâ Chrissie Hynde, her voice will always be recognized as her own. Jen has her own way with the melody and delivers her lyrics with simple candor. Her persona infuses the songs with strength and vulnerability while the band lays down a blanket of sound. Ron's guitar hauntingly surrounds the songs with striking chords and riffs, while Steve's bass adds another melodic dimension. Jared's piano and synth lines add electricity similar to that of The Who. Markâs skin bashing is the backbone of the band and a major contributor to The Ruling Partyâs distinctive sound.
The Ruling Party is now out and about performing. Their live show is definitely one to catch. The band plays their songs with incredible intensity no matter where they are or who is watching. Jen has a demeanor that keeps you engaged and her voice is equally gripping.
The Ruling Party crosses all musical tastes and barriers. They just love making good music.
