Details:
Bringing an ear for consummate musicianship and an eye for provocative lyrics, The Soular System combines the songwriting ideals of yesterday with the vogue design of tomorrow, while maintaining a variety of styles embedded in Funk.

This was The Soular System's first studio release, recorded in one day at Possum Tracks Studios in Sopchoppy, FL (can't get much more Southern than that!) on January 9, 1999. The recording band for this project included current and founding members Rev. Desmond D'Angelo (vocals), Mike Maloney (guitar), Ral (bass), Jes Bradley (drums) and Roth Rothenberg (trombone) and former members Duane Day (trumpet) and Jedi Jon Redzap (keyboard). The album cover was photographed by Paul Rothenberg and is of Desmond's ass. Desmond figured if he laid out the kind of cash needed to get that FUNK tattoo, he was gonna get some use out of it. We even still have the "5 Lb Bag" used in the shoot. The original release, which has sold thru it's initial 1000 pressing with no outside distribution, had a different order of tracks and, consequently, different artwork. The front cover is the same, but the inside pictures (front and profile mugshots of the original septet) were recently rediscovered and we felt obligated to put them in. The back cover is all of us emerging from a space portal.
