On November 6, 2003 she produced, and with her friend Dakota MAC LEOD, performed in TWO SOPRANOS SING OPERA TO BLUES at WEILL RECITAL HALL AT CARNEGIE HALL, a concert where in the first half they sang opera arias and duets and in the second half, sang jazz, pop and blues. On December 9, 2004 she produced and performed a dinner cabaret story-show using the music of COLE PORTER and repeated the show for MID-MANHATTAN Branch NAACP on April 3, 2005. Currently she is preparing a cabaret story-show to be presented at the NAACP April 2, 2006 using the music of HAROLD ARLEN and DUKE ELLINGTON.
She has sung with such noted musicians as LIONEL HAMPTON, RANDY WESTON, CEDAR WALTON, and BENNY GOLSON and also appeared at various Cabarets. She recorded an album with ELLIS LARKINS entitled FOR THE RECORD; and has produced and performed in the following CDs: SONG PICTURES, consisting of music she wrote; FOR LOVE OF MOZART, including 7 of his arias and 10 songs; RENAISSANCE REBORN, contemporary settings of old English songs; and, a CD of the music for the TWO SOPRANO concert. Formerly married to ART FARMER, she is also a practicing attorney in New York City.
She gave a recital in the classical mode at RIVERSIDE CHURCH November 6, 2005 that included the music of Giuseppe Verdi, Richard Strauss, Gustav Mahler, Gabriel Faure, Samuel Barber and Hilbert E. Stewart, her uncle. RAOUL ABDUL said that âwhat gave her handling of the material special distinction was her ability to bring the message of each text vividly to life. Our hearts and minds were engaged throughout the program. In addition, her lovely voice poured out effortlessly.â
