Maximum New Wave. Great pop rock hit songs with guitars, drums, and synthesizer, played by real people. The greatest band of the 80s that never was returns 20 years later to reclaim what other bands stole.
9 MP3 Songs
ROCK: 80's Rock, POP: New Wave
Details:
In 1984, people were talking about the ânew waveâ in rock music. Talking about those hairdressers. A bunch of guys named âTaylor.â That blonde woman.
And of course, Sid Luscious.
Sid Luscious and The Pants had the look and the sound the world didnât know it craved. Teenage prodigies, they quickly rose to prominence in 1983 '" barely able to drive themselves to rehearsal!
Showcase performances around the world followed, as did a recording contract. Sid Luscious and The Pants were primed for great success. The press machine had geared up to prepare everyone for what the band called âMaximum New Waveâ.
And then the bottom fell out of their world. Holed up in various studios for almost a year, they struggled with technology, the record business, and each other. For reasons unknown, their record company decided not to release the completed record and dropped the band from their contract.
Sid disappeared shortly thereafter and the band went their separate ways.
And just as suddenly as they had been headliners, 1984âs ânext big thingâ became an all-but-forgotten footnote.
The intervening 20 years have not been kind to the band. How does one continue on when youthâs promise and potential are unfulfilled? Like everyone else, somehow The Pants survived...all except original keyboard player Max F, whose story is as tragic as it is mysterious.
Now, 20 years later, the band has re-formed. Theyâre in their mid-30s. They have a new, young keyboard player. Their legendary album âLife, Styleâ was finally released in 2005.
Maximum New Wave is here. The band is ready for the world...but is the world ready for them?
