Details:
The music of Sebastian Sidi defies definition. Simply put, it cannot be confined within the walls of a single genre. Words alone fail to illustrate its ingenious fusion of Latin, rock, classical, tango and New Age sounds.

And that's precisely the way this talented, innovative artist prefers it. "In a way, I like the fact that you cannot describe my music," Sebastian contends. "I've never really followed any guidelines to composing my music."

That makes sense, seeing as how Uruguay-born Sebastian also never formally studied music. As a teen, several years after his family relocated to Southern California, he sat behind a buddy's battered drum kit and pounded out his first fledgling, heavy metal tunes. Before long he was hitting the skins, along with the keyboards, and composing songs for a number of small rock bands, as well as rap and Latin outfits.

"As I continued to do that, my compositions became more and more intricate," he recalls. "I found out that I had a pretty good understanding of what each instrument had to bring to the table to make a song work." Sebastian soon added bass guitar to his repertoire, which he instinctively took to "as if I had played it for years."

What developed is the distinctive Sebastian Sidi sound that has been featured on the four compact discs he's released through his Sidi Music Records label: 1999's raw, uplifting
"Prelude"; 2000's intricate "Electrified"; 2002's relaxed "Passion"; and the 2005 offering
"Desperate Journey," which documents his personal inner struggles. Collectively, the discs have sold an impressive 20,000 copies.

"I use the term New Age' so people who have not heard me can get an idea of what it sounds like," he explains. "All around, I'm described as a New Age Rock Artist' New Age because my music is often compared to that of Yanni and John Tesh; rock artist because behind my music has a hard-driving rock force, which I think gives it the Sidi signature. My music, for the most part, should be described as positive, energetic and passionate."

When he's not recording Sebastian, who is fluent in both English and Spanish, can be seen performing live on stages throughout Southern California including at Universal City Walk, Downtown Disney, Irvine Spectrum, The Block at Orange, Citadel Shopping Center, Fashion Island, Horton Plaza, Orange County Market Place, Long Beach Town Center, Cerritos Town Center, Long Beach Shoreline Village and Pershing Square. He has also played the iconic Plaza Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

It is, however, the shows he performs in his hometown, at the Downey Theatre, that 30-year-old Sebastian counts among his greatest musical achievements. "It is where I've had the opportunity to produce my dream concerts, with props, lights, cameras, a full band, dancers, singers, a big
screen and a full theatre. Most importantly, that's where all of my fans from different places can come together for a night of music."

That loyal fan base holds a special place in his heart. "The most amazing part of my genre -- whatever that genre is is that I gather fans of all ages and races, from 10-year-old kids to 80-year-old seniors. I feed off their energy and they feed off mine. It's a partnership, and it wouldn't work otherwise."

Ultimately, Sebastian says of his career, "Any level of fame or wealth I achieve is a bonus, but nothing I can't live without. In my dreams, I'm touring the world and sharing my music with as many people as possible."
