Details:
"Fever in the South" is the newest release by Big Medicine, North Carolina's premier old-time string band.

The CD is the band's second release on Asheville's widely respected independent Americana label Yodel-Ay-Hee Records. The band's first recording, "Too Old to be Controlled," released in 2002, earned glowing reviews in newspapers, magazines, and online.

Members of the band-Jim Collier, LaNelle Davis, Kenny Jackson, and Joe Newberry-are some of the most respected performers on the traditional music scene today. All four are veteran multi-instrumentalists and singers who are steeped in the rugged and beautiful traditional music of the southern Appalachian and Ozark regions.

Music critics and reviewers describe Big Medicine's blend of fiddle tunes, ballads, hymns, and early bluegrass as "joyful," "impressive," "spirited," and "powerful." The band's instrumental dexterity, powerful singing, and a lively creativity in their interpretation of old-time music have won them fans and critical praise nationwide as well as overseas. Springing from the same fertile old-time music scene that has been featured in recent major film releases such as "Cold Mountain" and "Songcatcher", Big Medicine has gained a strong following over the last few years.
