Details:
Sidney is a musician/songwriter from Belzoni, Mississippi and has been writing song as long as he can remember. âI used to just hum and sing, or make up stories to a melody when I was just a kid. The earliest song I remember writing was about the red sky. I think I was around age sevenâ He said.
Sidney started learning to play instruments at a fairly young age. âI received a harmonica at age nine from my Uncle Clarence and my father also played bass, guitar and harmonica. My brother Robert (Bob Cobb) is also a skilled musician, so I never remember a time when there was not a guitar in the house. Some things have not changed. âSid Cobb said. He also started trumpet, at age eleven and from then was moved to tuba. Sid remembers. âI was in the school band for five years and played in the brass section. The band director would just move me as she needed; I enjoyed being the utility man. I learned to play the sousaphone (three valves) and then concert tuba (four valves). Three different fingerings in five years! I decided then if I wanted to learn a new instrument I probably could. Iâve picked up fiddle, piano, mandolin, sax, bass, and slide guitar since then."
Born in Greenwood,MS and raised in the Mississippi Delta, birthplace of many legendary musicians, Sid and his brother Robert Cobb soaked up the culture and music of the Delta and Hills of Mississippi. âWe have shared the stage over the years with musicians from North Carolina to Dallas Texas. The time we spend soaking up the culture never ends, but now the time has come to ring it out!â Says Sid.
Most recently in the coastal Carolinas, Sidney has been a member of Blues Berry Jam and Coon Phat Gravy. Sid has played in venues across the country, such as,North and South Carolina: House of Blues,HB Spokes,Stool Pigeons,Dicks Last Resort,B&M Roadhouse,Pour House,Peasants,Ceders,Raw Bar,Dominic's,The Whisky, Paddy's Hollow,Velvet,Tomatoz,Mellow Mushroom,Bevanda, Icehouse,Hells Kitchen,Bald Head Island,....
