"There was a brief stint with a red accordion, influenced by my Italian grandparents. Then, after seeing The Beatles on The Ed Sullivan Show, I started playing guitar" says singer/songwriter Mark Stacy. "I played in my bedroom until junior high when I started my first of a series of garage bands. I left Los Angeles to go to college in Santa Barbara where I studied music, started playing piano, and began performing in nightclubs. No one could pronounce or spell my real last name 'Colicchio' (ko-LEE-key-oh) so I started using my middle name 'Stacy'".
After working in clubs, and as a second engineer in a Santa Barbara recording studio, Stacy returned to Los Angeles where he settled as a staff songwriter at Almo/Irving Music.
He moved from California to Nashville in 1994, and built Downstairs Sound Recording Studio as a place to work on his own music.
"Before I knew it I had other people coming to the studio to do their recordings", says Stacy, who now works with a constant stream of Nashville writers and artists when he is not working on his own music.
Mark has released 3 "Phonograph Records" CDs "At this Table", "naked", and "COLICCHIO".
"Mark Stacy has an album full of small miracles...", says Tom Roland of the Tennessean.
His work has been featured on NPR's Car Talk, NBC Sports 2000 Olympics. He engineeres and produces a variaty of projects at his Downstairs Sound Recording studio where he also makes his own recordings.
Mark tours coffeehouses and bookstores as a solo performer where he sells his CDs.
"Singer-songwriter Mark Stacy's new COLICCHIO album is full of nuance and subtlety and other things
of which good songs are made..." says Peter Cooper of THE TENNESSEAN.
