"Hold Up", the new single from Mr. C The Slide Man a/k/a (Dj Casper) featuring J-Dub, Marshall Thompson (Of the Chi-Lites) and Steve Butler, is a flamboyant improvisation that embodies the art of steppin'. Mr. C, a nine-time winner of the largest annual stepper's contest and artist/producer Butler teamed up to do a song that steppers could appreciate. Once the project was under way, they invited Mr. C's son, rapper J-Dub, onto the record and picked up Marshall Thompson as the project progressed because he enjoyed the vibe at the studio session so much. The result is an innovative and unique stepper's song that uses rap, some would say the verbal counterpart to steppin', over the syncopated rhythms traditionally associated with the dance. Best known for his hit song "The Cha-Cha Slide", Mr. C's latest single, like great steppin', is a combination of style and technique that pushes the envelope.
