"Dr. Michael Stechison performs this selection of great American popular songs with finesse, creativity, and style. His expressive and uniquely individual interpretations provide surprises in each song without compromising the melodic intent of the original composer."
Kevin Bales, Former Professor of Music at University of North Florida; Visiting Artist and Lecturer Georgia State University; 1994 Winner of the American Pianists Association Jazz Piano Competition.

"Michael's CD is the perfect soundtrack to an elegant dinner at home. Gorgeous piano playing to compliment the perfect Pinot Noir. It's a must listen!"
Mara Davis, 92.9 DaveFM, Atlanta, GA

BIOGRAPHY

Michael Stechison began his classical training in piano in 1961 at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. In his teens he became interested in jazz and improvisation, while also playing saxophone and clarinet. He has a broad interest spanning many different genres of music. He continues the evolution of his own personal style focused on harmonic intrigue. "To me harmony in music is analogous to the relationship of color to painting. It is the element that captivates me most."
Stechison says that "for me, music erases time - not turning it back, but transcending it. When I play a song, I usually have an image of what I was doing when I heard it the first time. I remember where I was, when it was, and who I was with at the time. Playing music fills me with the warmth and memories of times I cherish. Most importantly, it makes me feel connected with those I was close to at those times. I can be in the past and the present simultaneously."
Dr. Stechison continues his other busy calling as a neurosurgeon and founder of Greater Atlanta Neurosurgery, P.C. Sources tell us he would be willing to take a hiatus to go on tour. He may be contacted for engagements at 404.522.3330 or on the web at www.doctorstechison.com.
