Details:
Steve Taylor graduated from Boston's prestigious Berklee College of Music in 1995 with a degree in songwriting. After returning to Michigan, he began teaching guitar and music theory at Shrine High School in Royal Oak. During this period, Steve joined Detroit based
Yeah Loud Recordsâ artist the Vudu Hippies.

The band released the CD âTrampolineâ in 1997 to rave reviews and a Detroit Music Awards nomination for Album of the Year. The Vudu Hippies opened for such acts as Oasis, Spin Doctors, Grand Funk Railroad, and Fuel, and released two full length CDs in 2001 (âRiseâ and âFunsucker.â) In addition, the Vudu Hippies also wrote and performed the theme song to the NBC sketch comedy pilot âLive on Tape.â Steve Taylor has been playing, performing, and teaching for over 16 years. Along with bass guitar, Steve also teaches private lessons on piano, guitar, and mandolin to nearly 75 students every week.

In addition to teaching and performing, Steve works as a free lance arranger for horns, strings, and voice, with credits on albums by Stewart Francke and Radiocraft. In 2000, Steve composed and arranged the original score for the Detroit-based feature-length film One Half Gone. In 2002, Steve completed a Masterâs Degree in Music Theory at Wayne State University. While studying at Wayne he received the Le Fereve and Music Study Club scholarships and worked as a Graduate Assistant for Dr. James Hartway.

In 2004, Steve produced the CD âFallâ for his band Five Days Straight, and his song âWithoutâ was featured in a DVD of the show âDawsonâs Creek.â Steve is currently playing bass guitar and singing back-up vocals for the Detroit-based Tim Diaz Band. In 2005, Steve began performing as a solo acoustic artist, bringing his blend of soulful original material and songs by his favorite artists to more intimate settings. When he is not busy teaching or performing solo, Steve is also a highly sought after side musician, playing live shows with local artists such as Steve Acho, Karen Newman, and Canadian singer/songwriter Jody Raffoul.

In 2005, Steve released his first solo CD âAnd So On...â The CD contains 12 original songs on which Steve plays all the instruments and does most of the vocals himself.
