Never heard before recordings from the secret weapon of Punk, the Stillettos, the band that launched Blondie's career and play it loud.
14 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Punk, ROCK: Glam
Details:
Punk Trampoline is a slice of the madness that was the life we lived in
downtown New York circa 1976 1979
The Stilettos had many incarnations. The first launched Blondieâs career
and brought crowds to CBGB, Maxâs Kansas City and Club 82. It was on of the
very first original bands to start the CBGB Punk craze along with The
Ramones, Television and Patti Smith. When Blondie decided to quit, The
Stillettos had a preliminary record deal on the table, but for just the
girls, which didnât sit well with Chris Stein. This was in 1974 when the
only group that was on the move in the record industry from downtown was
The new York Dolls. As a soloist I continued to play the clubs, but that
was until May of â75 when someone very important in my life died.
Devastated, I left the scene until Alter Ego and Schebo helped to reform
The Stillettos in late â76. By now the scene was full-blown PUNK The
Ramones, Dead Boys, and the English invasion of the Sex Pistols and the
Clash dominated. I was more pissed off than all of them! Owen Swenson, and
Fast Eddy became the stabilizing force of the guitars. We played Central
Park, The Felt Forum and the clubs in the local scene. We recorded a demo
for Tommy Mattolaâs management company Champion Mgmt and also self produced
some stuff. The band became a revolving door for other musicians. In 78â we
recorded at the Hit factory, Rick derringer producing. Featured on these
songs is Cheetah Chrome from the Dead Boys, Walter Lure and Billy Rath from
Johnny Thunders Heartbreakers, and the infamous Bellamy Sisters. These are
the recordings you will hear on this CD. Also be on the look out for the
soon to be published book âElda Roseâ which will take you inside the Warhol
underground of the sixties and seventies for a ride through how punk really
evolved un New York
So play it loud!
