How important is family in our lives? For Pete, Phil and Tony Lewis, itâs the creative factor that delivers the emotions, optimism and diversity in each and every song. In their new Album entitled, RV Livinâ, the Lewis brothers deliver their unique and musically unpredictable songs reflecting what life is really all about. For example, in the featured song, Mamaâs Cookinâ, the guys remind us that we all have our ups and downs in life. Sometimes things are good and sometimes there bad. And as much as we want everything to go our way all the time, sometimes itâs just not possible. You can get more out of life by paying attention and taking advantage of the positive opportunities when they come along.
This theme is carried in other songs like Barn With A View. Life is something you canât get too worried about. You have to learn to relax and reflect upon what is important to you. One of the best ways to do that is to put yourself in a place which inspires you to accomplish what you want in life. To find out what is important to you, you can learn from others you meet along the way. Such is the message in the title track, RV Livinâ. A story about the road and the education we all receive when we meet new people and have new experiences away from the predictability of home.
Life is something to enjoy. To get the most out of it, you canât become consumed with the momentary trials and tribulations. It is important to cherish life's occurrences, both good and bad. Try not to let them control you, rather learn to experience life for what it is and enjoy the ride.
Storytyme started playing together as far back as they can remember. Pots and pans in the kitchen quickly evolved into 8" distorted guitar amps in the garage... and the band was born. But bar-chord-punk-rock would not last for long...
Over the years the music has seen many changes, constantly evolving and maturing. The Lewis brothers are three very different individuals and their influences vary widely; from progressive rock bands of the 70âs such as Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and The Grateful Dead, to the groove oriented rock of The Dire Straights, The Doobie Brothers and J.J. Cale, to the harder edge sound of bands like Primus, AC/DC, and Sublime. What results is a completely unique style that can only be described as ...Storytyme.
After several relocations, Storytyme has landed in Boulder, CO. Since moving to Boulder in 2001, Storytyme has had many noteworthy performances at some of Coloradoâs most respected venues including: The Fox Theatre, The Soiled Dove, Tulagi, and Trilogy. Also, during the summer of 2005, Storytyme played sets at the South Park Music Festival, and the world famous Red Rocks Amphitheater.
With a solid fan base growing at home in the major Colorado markets of Boulder and Denver, Storytyme has also answered the call of the road. For the past year Storytyme has been touring extensively throughout the Midwest with major turnouts at shows in Iowa City, IA, Chicago, IL, Madison, WI, Okoboji, IA, and Mankato, MN.
Their latest release entitled RV Livinâ is a tribute to these recent travels. Most often credited for their high-energy live performances with intense jams and hilarious stage antics, this album quite accurately captures that atmosphere in a recorded format. This being their fourth studio album, Storytyme is also no stranger to the studio. The album was recorded live in the mountains above Boulder and was an in-house production from the beginning. Storytyme wrote, recorded, produced, and mixed the entire album. With a little help from David Glasser at Airshow Mastering in Boulder, the result is phenomenal. 10 action-packed songs about everything from living in a barn, to dancing at the Disco, RV Livinâ is sure to have something for everyone.
In the immediate future, Storytyme plans to continue playing shows all throughout Colorado and the Midwest, spreading the word, sharing the love, fueling the fire, and riding the wave.
That, in a nutshell, is the story so far with Storytyme. Please take a few moments and check out their extensive web site that documents this history in far more detail with hundreds of pictures and journal entries from all over the country...
