Stanley Bull is an Oakland California native. He began singing at the age of 12. Stanley is a singer, songwriter and musician who has studied voice with the late Phil Reeder, Bill "The Jazz Professor" Bell, and John Patton Jr. (The Color Purple). He has traveled to New Orleans and Mexico City with the world renowned Castleers of Castlemont High School.
Stanley also participated in the Young Musicians Program at U.C. Berkeley under the direction of Michael Senturia, where he studied voice, music theory, and composition along side and under the tutelage of such artists as Daryl Coley, Rodney Franklin, Fred "Ready Freddie" Washington and Clayton "Claytoven" Richardson.
In 1989, he produced 2 songs for a recording project by the St. Andrew Missionary Baptist Churchâs album entitled "God Calls For Repentance". It is there that he was blessed by the Lord to learn to play the bass guitar and given the opportunity by the pastor, Dr. Robeth Lacy, to hone this skill with the choir.
He has also been featured vocalist as well as bassist and drummer with Aladdin's Lads and Lasses, a unique belly dancing troupe which blends Scottish song and bellydancing with Arabic rhythms and bagpipes.
More recently, Stanley has vocally performed with Rev. Al Green, The Academy Chorus under the direction of Richard Herron, gospel recording artists Ricky Dillard, Alfreda Mitchell & Success, Reverend James Bolton, Reverend Hezekiah Walker and Verlin Sandles.
Stanley has served as musical director with gospel recording artists CMV. He also plays bass at the First African Methodist Episcopal Church in Oakland, California where the minister of music is Jeffrey Williams and the pastor is Dr. Harold R. Mayberry.
