Steve Baskin's music is a mix of rock and roll and powerpop that's been just a little southern fried.
10 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Folk Rock, POP: Power Pop
Details:
Steve Baskin is an Atlanta-based singer/songwriter. There's a wide range of musical styles in his songs, but there's an unmistakable Southern fried taste in this power pop and rock & roll. His debut CD, I Sometimes Think , is available now.
Steve began his musical career swinging his Les Paul Deluxe around while fronting a 10-piece R&B band. The band went by many names, but the last known name was HugoAgogo. Playing throughout the south with R&B and Soul legends including Sam & Dave, The Shirelles, Percy Sledge, Carla Thomas, Mary Wells and Archie Bell. Even opened for The Beach Boys on their 25th anniversary tour.
More recently, Steve was the guitarist/vocalist with The Cindy Wilson Band (an album-project featuring Cindy Wilson of the B52s). The band played festivals, major clubs and TV gigs, including a national broadcast of Live from Music Midtown on Turner South, sharing the stage for a songwriters get-together with June Carter Cash, Don McLean, Mike Mills, Edwin McCain, Angie Aparo and Tony Rich. The thrill of the night (lifetime!) was playing "May the Circle Be Unbroken" with June Carter Cash and family.
Steve also played lead guitar for the Hippycrickets to help support their debut album "Inconceivable". The Atlanta power pop group played major clubs throughout the South and received airplay throughout the US and internationally. The Hippycrickets are getting ready to release their second album.
