The Matt Stansberry Band (MSB) is an innovative rock band, creatively incorporating pop, funk, and jam. Based out of Oklahoma City, this group is providing a unique atmosphere of sound that is fresh and entertaining to any listening ear.
Formed in 2003, this foursome met on the campus of Oklahoma Christian University while pursuing their musical interests in the form of jazz and rock, in a variety of outlets. Appreciating the style and eccentricity of Grant's talent, Matt was immediately drawn to his abilities and impressed by their common passion for music. "Grant's multi-instrumental skills as a pianist and trumpet player were an instant fit with my style and musical direction," says Matt. Spending the summers traveling in a university pop-rock band, Denver and Ben formed a strong relationship with Matt as they rehearsed and entertained across several states doing what they loved - playing music. Denver's matchless intensity and energetic personality propels him to the front of any stage, while his natural talent and infectious enthusiasm instills belief in the MSB. Denver's sound on bass is aggressive and creatively recognizable, "Everything about his playing is exciting...nobody quite sounds like Denver Greene," states Matt. Ben's eclectic style, laid back attitude, and quick thinking make him a perfect fit for the funky-rockin' sounds of the band. His playing is smart and the complexity of his perception is intriguing. "Ben gets it. He knows how to accent, feel the groove, and add flavors to make a song more interesting and overall better," says Matt. In November, 2004 the MSB had finally come to full fruition with the perfect line-up, and ready to be put on display for the world to hear.
Now, as 2006 approaches the MSB is making their move on the music world. With the release of "The World Goes Up" there is much to be anticipated for The Matt Stansberry Band as we catch a glimpse of what's to come from the MSB. "...And as goes the world, so too shall this talented foursome's profile," Preston Jones (Oklahoma Gazette).
