Description:
Modern rock/brit-rock/trip hop laced with unforgettable hooks, hypnotic melodies, and bombastic choruses.
12 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Modern Rock, POP: British Pop
Details:
Strangest Places fuse London-flavored modern rock with indelible hooks and soaring melodies.
The 4-piece (vocals/keyboards, guitar, bass, drums) keeps its creative juices flowing by writing driving, staight-ahead rock tunes that pay homage to influences like U2, The Smiths, David Bowie, The Church, Crowded House, Blur, Oasis, Radiohead, Coldplay, and Underworld.
Strangest Places formed in 1996 in Milwaukee, the project of lead vocalist / keyboardist Jonathan Granger and guitarist Tim Johnson. After 2 years of writing and recording material for their atmospheric debut album, Hiding the Igniting Girl, the duo enhanced their sound by adding bassist / art guru / web designer Dave Clay and drummer Dan Hanke (former Sometime Sweet Susan, Crime & Judy).
Strangest Places has performed relentlessly since 1999, staging shows ranging in size from 100 to 1500 people. They achieved radio play from Milwaukee stations 91.7 FM WMSE, 102.1 FM WLUM, and 102.9 FM WLZR, as well as 88.9 FM WIIT Chicago, and 106.2 FM Radio ZRO, Belgium, who discovered the band through their website, www.strangestplaces.com
Since the band's 1999 debut CD, two critically acclaimed recordings have also been released: 2002's Very Loud Thoughts, and 2004's *Optional.
*Optional showcases some of the band's finest material, whose luster can be partially credited to the mastering work of Trevor Sadler (most famous for his work with Nine Inch Nails).
Selected works from Very Loud Thoughts and *Optional are currently being considered for use in MTV television hits The Real World and Road Rules.
Strangest Places will unveil their fourth full length CD, Tilt, in Spring 2005. Tilt will feature 13 tracks recorded at New York's Musikwerks Studios, best known for its audio and video production work with HBO and WWE.
A few of the band's performance highlights include: a special 2001 Chicago concert apperance with U2, a Midwestern mini-tour supporting L.A.'s DADA, and a host of on-air concerts presented by 91.7 FM WMSE.
Strangest Places can currently be found on the road in support of Tilt.
